How to Claim SOL from Empty Token Accounts

November 3, 2026 • By SolPurge Team

Selling a memecoin does not claim the SOL that opened its token account. The token balance can sit at zero while the rent deposit stays locked in that account. Claiming the SOL means closing the empty account so the deposit comes back to your wallet.

If the coin still has a balance, sell or burn it somewhere else first. Clean up a Solana wallet after memecoin trading is that prep, including the rent deposit sizes. This guide starts when the balance is already zero, and it follows the claim on SolPurge.

What you get back when you claim

A token account is separate from your main wallet address. Solana's close-account guide says closing deletes the account and transfers all of its lamports, including the storage deposit, to a destination you choose. The SOL was already in the account. The close does not mint new SOL.

SolPurge closes empty SPL Token and Token-2022 accounts. It does not burn tokens. It charges a 6% service fee on the reclaimed rent. You also pay the network fee for the close. The remaining rent returns to the wallet that signs.

How to reclaim SOL from closed token accounts explains that return on its own. The steps below are the claim you run after the trades are done.

Why a trading day still leaves SOL to claim

Each coin you buy opens a token account in the wallet that bought it. Selling the balance to zero does not close that account, so a short session can leave one empty account per mint you touched.

pumpdata.fun's report for November 1, 2026 counts 36,904 pump.fun launches that day. The same report counts 893 graduations, 2.42% of those launches, and says 91% of launches had no trade at all in their second hour. A coin can go quiet the same day you bought it. The token account is still there after you sell.

That 36,904 figure is a count of launches, not a count of empty accounts in your wallet and not an amount of SOL. Your claim is only the empty accounts that wallet holds.

Step 1: Connect the wallet that traded

Open www.solpurge.com and check the address bar before you connect. How to verify the real Sol Purge and the official site page show the domain and the fee wallet. A copy of the page can send the fee to a different wallet.

Connect the wallet that bought the coins. The close is built in your browser, and you sign it in that wallet. SolPurge cannot access your private keys or seed phrase. Accounts on a different address stay hidden until you connect that address.

Step 2: Limit the list to empty accounts

The connected wallet loads a table of token accounts. The heading states how many accounts were loaded. The columns are Token, Token Account, Token Balance, and SOL.

Turn on Show only zero balance. That hides coins you still hold. A memecoin you already sold should remain, with a token balance of zero and a SOL figure that is the deposit you can claim. Wrapped SOL stays in this view. Closing it is how that wrapped SOL comes back, and the next step says how the fee treats it.

The token-account link opens that account on Solscan. Use it when the name is unfamiliar and you want the mint and the owner before you select the row.

If the page says it is showing the first accounts and that the wallet has more, the rows on screen are not the whole wallet.

Step 3: Skip rows the app will not close

Select only accounts the checkbox allows. SolPurge closes empty SPL Token and Token-2022 accounts. It does not burn tokens. A normal token account can be closed only when its token balance is zero. Solana's close-account guide states that requirement. A balance above zero stays put until you remove it in your wallet or on a DEX. The cleanup guide is that earlier step.

Some Token-2022 accounts cannot be closed (for example withheld fees, confidential balances, frozen accounts, or a close authority held by another wallet), and the app shows the reason. Leave those rows alone. The close-account guide says the Token Extensions program adds close checks for some extensions. Clearing an extension is a separate action, not part of this claim.

Wrapped SOL accounts are the exception to the zero-balance rule. SolPurge closes a native wrapped SOL account that still has a balance. Closing unwraps that SOL back to your wallet. The 6% service fee is on the rent only, not on the wrapped SOL. Other tokens must have a zero balance.

Step 4: Read the summary, then sign

The summary appears after you select accounts you can close. Read it before you approve anything:

  • Gross rent is the rent in the accounts you selected.
  • Fee (6%) is the service fee on reclaimed rent. It is charged only on reclaimed rent, and only if the transaction succeeds. With a referral, half of that fee goes to the affiliate. When the affiliate is paid, the wallet shows two transfers that add up to the same fee.
  • Network fee is the approximate validator fee for these transactions. A failed close does not charge the service fee.
  • You receive is the reclaimed rent after the 6% service fee, plus unwrapped SOL if you closed any.

When the selection includes wrapped SOL, the summary adds Unwrapped SOL (no fee). Closing a wrapped SOL account unwraps it. The 6% service fee is on the rent only, not on the wrapped SOL. Other tokens must have a zero balance.

The button names the close. It shows how many accounts you selected. When the selection needs more than one transaction, it also shows how many your wallet will sign. A large selection is signed in groups, and the page tells you when the next signatures have to wait. Approve the prompt only if the platform fee transfer matches the fee wallet on the verify guide. With a referral, half of the service fee goes to the affiliate as a second transfer when that affiliate is paid. Reject the prompt if the platform fee goes somewhere else, or if the wallet asks for a seed phrase.

After the close

A landed close removes the accounts you selected. Refresh the list and those rows should be gone. A row that still shows a reason was not closed. The SOL in You receive is the reclaimed rent after the 6% service fee, plus unwrapped SOL if you closed any. The network fee is the separate validator cost shown next to it.

The next trade opens a new account, and selling that coin will not close it. Run the same four steps again when you are done with those mints. To look at an address before connecting, the wallet checker lists its token accounts, and the rent reclaim estimator estimates what that address would receive after fees.

Claim SOL by closing the empty accounts. SolPurge closes empty SPL Token and Token-2022 accounts, does not burn tokens, and charges a 6% service fee on the reclaimed rent.
