On November 1, 2026, TokenPost reported that the Solana Foundation merged SIMD-0567, a proposal to replace the associated token account program with p-ATA. Simon Yoon's article says the merge advances the proposal on the main branch. The new program still has to be deployed through the established migration process, and the report gives no date. Until that migration, p-ATA is not live on mainnet.
What SIMD-0567 proposes
TokenPost says SIMD-0567 proposes replacing the existing associated token account (ATA) program with p-ATA. p-ATA is built on Pinocchio. The stated aim is lower compute-unit (CU) use and better execution efficiency.
Benchmarks in the report
TokenPost says benchmarks showed p-ATA cut transaction execution time by about 35% compared with the existing program. In a test that supplied a Rent Sysvar account, CU use fell further and execution time rose slightly, by about 1% at the transaction level. Those results are benchmarks in the report. TokenPost does not present them as figures measured on Solana mainnet.
What this means for reclaimable rent SOL
Reclaimable rent is the SOL locked in an empty token account. Closing the account is what returns it. The 2026 change to the size of that deposit is a different proposal, SIMD-0437, covered in Solana Rent Reduction: SIMD-0437 and Token Account Rent in 2026.
The article does not report a new rent rate, a refund amount, or a total of SOL that would become reclaimable. It does not say the merge moves SOL already locked in token accounts. That locked SOL still comes back by closing the empty account, under the rent rules in the SIMD-0437 post.
Where SolPurge fits
SolPurge closes empty SPL Token and Token-2022 accounts. It does not burn tokens. It takes 6% of the reclaimed rent.
Some Token-2022 accounts cannot be closed (for example withheld fees, confidential balances, frozen accounts, or a close authority held by another wallet). The app shows the reason. The 6% figure is the fee on reclaimed rent from accounts that do close. TokenPost does not report a change to that fee.
